All is not lost. If you’re in the Cleveland area tomorrow, Thursday, July 18th, stop by Mac’s Backs Books on Coventry for Batter Up!, an evening of readings from baseball writers Mike Faloon, Steve Reynolds, Scott Longert, and Susan Petrone (yep, I’m reading).
Mike Faloon and Steve Reynolds have just published Fan Interference: A Collection of Baseball Rants and Reflections, an anthology of the best pieces from the first 14 years of Zisk, the baseball zine. Contributors include Todd Taylor, John Shiffert, Ken Derr, Jake Austen, Nancy Golden and Brian Cogan.
Scott Longert is the author of The Best They Could Be: How the Cleveland Indians Became the Kings of Baseball 1916-1920. The book covers the years in League Park when Ray Chapman, Tris Speaker, Jack Graney, Steve O’Neill, Stan Coveleski and the other early greats played for Cleveland. The book also details how World War I affected the game. Scott Longert is also the author of Addie Joss: King of the Pitchers.
