EDIT: SCROLL TO THE BOTTOM FOR NEW ENTRIES – MORE NEW ONES ON TUESDAY, FEBRUARY 12
Jose Canseco has gotten pretty good at saying bizarre things on Twitter. Last summer, he told his followers that time travel was possible, and that he would explain later. Last April, he apparently discovered an alien in his soup. Earlier this month, he tweeted the inspirational and motivational “Nobody is a Nobody.” He even announced his campaign for mayor of Toronto on the social network last year. This evening he’s decided to devote his Tweets to the Cleveland Indians, providing advice to General Manager Chris Antonetti.
He starts by pointing out that he and Manny are open to discussion:
He wants to get Antonetti more money to work with (Indians fans can probably agree with this):
He thinks the Indians should sign both Bourn and Lohse (again, would be nice):
Canseco would like to see Jim Thome back with the Tribe:
He thinks the Indians should go after Jose Valverde, because he would be cheap. Bourn? Lohse? Valverde? Is he getting a commission from Scott Boras?:
Since Chris Antonetti has not tweeted anything since May of 2011, Canseco then decided that he’d better give Mark Shapiro a heads-up, just to make sure they see his suggestions:
I’m not sure why Canseco decided to give the Indians advice this evening, and why he seemed to suggest signing all of Scott Boras’s remaining major free agents. I guess you can say what you want about Canseco, but he’s definitely a unique individual.
On Monday evening after the Bourn signing, Canseco once again took to Twitter to chat about the Indians. (Most of his prior tweets for the day focused on the Pope).
He was pleased the Indians took his suggestion to sign Bourn, and encouraged them to ink Lohse:
Canseco is also taking time to suggest new marketing tips, like bringing back ten cent beer night:
Canseco thinks the Indians should protect Giambi:
Canseco points out that Scott (Boras) is ready to go on Lohse. One of the things I’ve found so weird about these tweets is that Canseco keeps using “we” and “us.”:
NEW EDITS, AS OF FEBRUARY 12
We’ve now entered day three of Jose Canseco’s unusual obsession with the Cleveland Indians. Today, he pointed out that he’s fully a part of the Indians:
He’s still trying to negotiate a deal for Kyle Lohse, and he was kind enough to post Mark Shapiro’s phone number on Twitter today:
