Nice Rebound

August 14, 2012

The Indians rebounded nicely from yesterday’s 14-1 embarrassment and rode six shutout innings by Justin Masterson to a solid 6-2 win over the Angels.

Brent Lillibridge reached on an error in the 3rd, scored on a single by Donald and Asdrubal then plated Marson for a 2-0 lead. Lillibridge homered in the 4th and the Tribe added 3 runs in the 9th on a bases loaded walk, sac fly and wild pitch.

Notes

— Masterson was efficient (6 IP, 6 H, 0 R, 3 BB, 4 K).

— Joe Smith entered with 2 on and 0 out in the 7th and struck out 2 of the 3 men he faced to end the inning.

— Asdrubal made 2 nice bare-handed plays for outs in the 1st inning.

— Pestano gave up a 2-run HR to Pujols in the 8th to make it 3-2.

— Esmil Rogers struggled in the 9th with a 4 run lead and allowed the first 2 men to reach to set up another save situation for Perez who struck out the side..

— Somewhere in Lilliput the little people are proud.
