He’s Back!!!

May 26, 2012

Just a quick update for Tribe fans regarding this afternoon’s matchup with the White Sox. According to MLB.com’s Jordan Bastian, Jack Hannahan should be back in the starting line-up today for the Indians after missing the past couple of weeks with a back injury. Considering that the Tribe is now pretty banged up this weekend (Carlos Santana and Asdrubal Cabrera left the game with day-to-day injuries last night; Hafner is missing the entire series), I am glad to see Hannahan making his way back onto the field. The potential downside to this move is the unknown future for Jose Lopez, who has filled in nicely during Hannahan’s absence (His 0-4 night yesterday dropped him to .267; however, he had a 10 game hit streak coming into last night with a homer and 7 RBI).

I am going to assume that Lopez will continue to find at-bats at 3B and DH in the next couple of games, and his playing time will be adjusted based on performance. He has been a breath of fresh air in the past couple weeks, so hopefully he can find a way to stick in the line-up.

I will be back for the post game, See you then!

EDIT- According to some Tweets by Bastian, Carlos Santana will not be in the line-up for today’s ballgame. Also, there seems to be a locker set up for Luke Carlin (Indians AAA catcher) in the Indians clubhouse, although no official roster move has been made to add him. Stay tuned regarding Carlos Santana’s status, but at this point it seems as if he could be facing some DL time (7-Day Concussion; 15 DL).
