As Stephanie wrote last week, the Indians recently acquired an affiliation with the Class A Carolina Mudcats. The team formerly known as the Kinston Indians relocated to Zebulon, North Carolina, and took on the Mudcats name after the former team with that name moved to Pensacola, Florida, to become the Pensacola Blue Wahoos.
Well, it didn’t take long for things to take a turn for the weird down in Zebulon. The other day, Zebulon police arrested a would-be amateur cinematographer named LaDarryl Strong, who thought it would be a good idea to pose as a cleaning employee in order to try to install a video camera in the visiting team’s dressing room. While it’s uncertain what Strong had in mind, it’s a safe bet that he wasn’t trying to steal signs or learn about strategy. Strong faces a felony charge of secret peeping, as well as raps for trespassing and possession of marijuana and drug paraphernalia.
As of today, the Mudcats are 4-2, good for first place in the Southern Division of the Carolina League.
